Questions parents ask
Straight answers about rates, lessons, travel and how I work.
How much does tuition cost?
Primary is $20 per hour, Lower Secondary $30, Upper Secondary $35 and JC $45. The rates are the same at your home, at my home, or online.
Is the first lesson really free?
Yes. Your child's first lesson is free, so we can meet, see where they are, and check we are a good fit before you commit.
How long is each lesson?
Lessons are 1.5 hours or 2 hours. You pay for the time, so a 1.5 hour Primary lesson is $30.
Which levels and subjects do you teach?
Primary Maths, Lower Secondary Maths and Science, Upper Secondary E Maths and A Maths, and JC H1 and H2 Maths.
Where do you teach?
I travel to your home in the North, North-East, Central and South of Singapore. You can also come to my home, or have lessons online from anywhere.
Do you charge extra for travel?
No. The rate is the same whether I come to you, you come to me, or we meet online.
Do you do online tuition?
Yes. Online lessons cost the same as home visits, and work from anywhere in Singapore.
What are your qualifications?
I scored an A* in PSLE Maths, A1 in both E Maths and A Maths at O-Level, and an A in H2 Maths at A-Level, with straight A's in Maths at National Junior College. I am studying Computer Science at SMU.
Will I know how my child is doing?
Yes. I send parents a progress summary every 4 lessons.
What materials do you use?
I write my own notes and worksheets, and use past year papers. I also use workbooks from Popular where they help.
What if we need to cancel or reschedule?
To move a lesson to another time, I need 2 days' notice. To stop lessons, 1 week's notice. If something unexpected happens, tell me and we will work it out.
When are you free?
Mondays after 4pm, Tuesdays after 5pm, Wednesdays anytime, Fridays 12pm to 3pm and after 7pm, and weekends anytime. I am not available on Thursdays.
